If you had the chance to prolong your life just by moving 10 minutes a day, would you do it? While you might think: "Eh, doh, what a stupid question, dude!" The grim reality is that more than 80% of the world's adolescent population is insufficiently physically active based on recent reports from the World Health Organization (WHO) and Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The CDC even goes as far as to highlight that "physical inactivity contributes to 1 in 10 premature deaths". While this sounds pretty grim, the good news is that the CDC also says: "If US adults increased their average physical activity just 10 minutes per day, over 110,000 lives per year could be saved".
Wow?! So, why aren't people moving more already then? Well... Of course, while in theory we may all know that we should exercise and work out more, the day-to-day reality of our lives can make it difficult to maintain that positive habit. Working away at our computers. Sometimes being pulled into back-to-back meetings. Maybe a few spare minutes to grab a coffee, check on the kids or pets and then back to work. And then after a long busy day, we end up tired and somehow often don't feel we have the energy to get those gym shoes on and hit all those exercises.
Establishing a habit around moving more can be tough. Any change in your normal routines can be tricky. We've all been there: Move more, eat less, sleep more (or less 😄) ... there always seems to be something to work on. And so, the idea of Quoove was born: An app that gets you started to build that habit of moving more throughout your day. An app that gives you ideas for quick and simple movements:
"Have a break, have a Quoove (quick move)!" 😏
Ok, ok... so what's Quoove exactly? With Quoove, we went on a mission to create an app that helps you move more throughout your day with a diverse set of quick and fun exercise movements touching on various disciplines such as Yoga, Boxing, Qi Gong, Strength Training, Zumba, Dance, etc. During our selection process we put a lot of emphasis on movements that you can do standing (or some sitting), but that don't require you to get your floor cleaned or your mat out. Often these are movements to just remind your body what moving is all about. Does it replace a full workout at the gym? Well, if you'd actually do some of these exercises for an hour, it might. But that's not the goal here - the idea is more about helping you find quick exercises that you can do during a quick break between meetings or some evening during meetings (while off camera ;)). Our goal is to whet your appetite for more movements - slowly building a habit around a more active and healthier lifestyle.
